Problems At Hospital

Recommended Posts

You're right Piebaps, and applying industrial methodology to an essential public service is not always appropriate.

The right balance needs to be found, such as trimming those areas which may become over resourced on a regular basis, instead of allowing them to gain a momentum and life of their own.

Instead of imposing across the board cuts, we should really be looking at ways of improving the services offered and increasing funding in order to do it!

A worrying trend is that fewer people are being referred to UK specialists, despite an admission that we do not have the capability on the island to deal with every eventuality. Nobles is really a glorified cottage hospital, we need to go one way or the other. Get the skills and equipment or farm patients out, there's not much room for middle ground when peoples lives are at stake!

It's a challenge to see how staff get a feeling of 'ownership' in the present approach to health services

Yes I'm very much in favour of that.

Couldn't a local do it for less?

Better to get somebody new who has not 'drifted up' in the system.

What, like a Manx crab reaching the hole at the top of the trap?

a quick google seems to suggest the new CEO was paid a huge salary £169K (incl bonuses) which was in the sights of those in charge, so he's left before the results of a damning report were released - perfect for our little Island - good old Minister w00t.gif

"Just learnt from bonkers some news that may please many. Another one leaving the sinking ship. Is the ofsted report due soon on the failures of Bexley's children services. Mark charters is leaving in next few days for the isle of man. With mike ellsmore leaving soon the council will be short of talent. To many who know mark charters, he was close to cllr Taylor. What are they to do for the elderly now? What do ukip think."

Howard Quayle MHK Minister for Health and Social Services being interviewed on Manx Radio about the

appointment of Mark Charters -

He rides a Harley Davidson. I'm confident we have got the right person.
