When Skies Are Grey
The 2013 Chris Kelly Memorial Rally takes place on Friday 15th & Saturday 16th Feb 2013. The event is the opening round of the 2013 Eurocars Motorsport Manx Rally Championship and a round of the 2013 ANWCC Stage Rally Championship. There is a total of 14 Special Stages covering close to 110 stage miles. 6 stages run on the Friday night, with the remainder on Saturday morning/afternoon. As always Marshalls and Timekeepers are needed to help on the event, so if you fancy helping, signing on is on Wednesday 13 February at the TT Conference Centre from 18.30 onwards. Ill upload maps and road closing times in a following post. Cheers

cabbyl ushtey
Why are there signs out around the Eairy advising the cars to be quiet? I've lived with the the rally cars around there probably twice a year for over 30 years and never found them a problem.
Overdose
Probably because someone else has complained. I'm more than happy with the Rally going past my place, but I heard the other day that there's someone trying to get it banned around our way. Miserable bastards, they're everywhere. cabbyl ushtey
It doesn't only say quiet it also says slow. How slow is slow? Seems ridiculous to me and I wouldn't be surprised if someone who has recently moved in has complained .
Overdose
I'd hazard a guess the signs are for those out doing the recce and putting the pace notes together, not for the actual rally itself.
cabbyl ushtey
What's that got to do with being quiet? Apparently there are more down at Lower Garth. There must be some logical reason. I shall listen out tonight to see if they are any quieter than usual!
Overdose
It's more of a case of asking the drivers/co drivers to behave when out doing the recce at unsociable hours as they're on open public roads. On the night rally's that are held over here through out the year there are 'quiet zones' (don't know if that's the correct term they use) where the drivers must take it easy, this is due to past complaints I believe. Pretty sure if you're reported breaking the rules of that particular road/area on the stage then you can get disqualified, the night rally's are run on open roads so I can't see any reason why they wouldn't apply this to the recce part of a roads closed event if there has been issues in the past. I'm sure WSAG could confirm with him being involved in the scene, fire him a PM.

Mission
Went for a skeet on the Quay for an hour or so, great fun. Lots of sideways action from the older cars, lovely sounds and smells too. The Swing Bridge seems to be proving very tricky for a lot of cars though. Nice to see both Sideways and WSAG in action.
sideways
Was really good fun , Ramsey quayside in the wet has to be one of the most slippy surfaces i have ever driven on !!!
