silky
getting back to the thread... Big Brother isn't the best thing on the box but it can be strangely addictive. I dont go out of my way to watch it but at the same time I have been known to watch it the odd time. I think most people are getting a bit sick of the whole reality TV thing but for those who enjoy it good luck to you. Oh, and I certainly wouldn't say anyone who decides to watch it is a "brainless moron" or anything that is just being harsh for the sake of it. Oh, and I certainly wouldn't say anyone who decides to watch it is a "brainless moron" or anything that is just being harsh for the sake of it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Okay, I'll accept that there is an audience for this kind of programme and perhaps my earlier comments were a bit harsh, but I do think that these programmes have grown into an epidemic which has drastically reduced the quality of television's output. For the TV companies, of course, it is cheap television - no writers or professional performers etc., - which means they're on an absolute winner since they can charge high advertising rates for the mass audience. The real trouble is that, as you say "most people are getting a bit sick of the whole reality TV thing" and, in order to keep their audience, they are resorting to ever more desperate gimmicks and the whole thing is becoming more and more tacky. A TV schedule that is dominated by 'reality' shows, 'makeover' programmes and 'soaps' probably says a great deal about the audience (or the programmers' perception of it's audience).
