This thread was started about Manx Man on Facebook, another one has now appeared called Manx Haven, I do hope he asked permission Amadeus w00t.gif

Edited to say - The aerial shots of the course are fab, at least it has a link to your site showing copyright

My point was that he puts his name to the photos but surely the credit and recognition should go to the photographer

I dont think he has ever claimed to own or take credit for the pictures on his FB page, more a public album where others share and tag him in

Can't you just 'out' him publically on FB?

Why give a shit if you're not the photographer? Just appreciates the photos for what they show. Who cares about the thinking on how good the photographer is. It doesn't matter.

It matters legally. Maybe not in your world, but in the real world it does.

Had a look through Manx Man and Manx Haven (thanks, Sammy). Still checking the first. Seems the latter is linking to my site for the TT course aerial shots. Completely fine. I encourage people to use and share my images. It's what they are there for. The only times it will get expensive for you is if you pretend their yours or use my stuff commercially without permission. Anything else: pretty much don't care. People will use your shots anyway, so no point stopping them.

Which makes me think... haven't got a a theme for TT 2013 yet. Hm... what haven't I tried yet...

it would matter a lot if that's your livelihood at stake and someone else is selling your photos for publication, I imagine you'd be pretty miffed. The result of this will be a lot of pictures will be uploaded as low resolution and plastered with watermarks so that publishers won't accept them, and your enjoyment of seeing other people's pictures will be adversely affected.

Livelihood? For taking landscape photos?

I think it is cheeky, but that's all.

So you're saying that when you go to Manxmania the photos are not his?

You're new to this money earning business thing, aren't you? S'pose don't need that in your world of bartering.

I have heard of people making money from wedding snaps or for journalism. But not from pictures of...the sea or hills. As beautiful as they are, I thought from the standards of many photos I have seen that they is little money to be had from it.

If you'd have told me that you were making an earning from selling photographs of the Island, I'd have thought you were new to money-taking. Is it not shit money?

And don't be stupid, please, with mention of 'my world'. If someone is affected by the law then is affects everyone. When I make a comment about what I think is right or not, I am not referring to the law.

For most there is little or no money, yes, but in general there are quite a few who earn well with landscapes and many other genres that might not be the usual weddings & portraits. Talking not only IOM here, though.

have a read and see how it affects some photographers who specialise in particular subjects and produce outstanding quality stuff
