Phil Gawne Applies For Leave To Introduce Bill To Abolish Legco

Recommended Posts

Quilp, I am sure you work very hard but I was talking about the DOI road-workers not the hospital manual workers although in my time spent up at the hospital, I have seen many people who are "swinging the leg", literally in the orthopedics department, they call it manipulation I think...w00t.gif

I like to think that more people are waking up to the chicanery and double-speak that has for so long been the staple of the robber-barons. There has been a certain slow-wittedness about the voting el

It's about being able to go to the voters at the next General Election and being able to say "I tried to get rid of those useless so-and-sos in LegCo, y'know. As a matter of fact, I even put a motion

Some brave men in LegCo it appears. Not big enough to stand man to man and debate but snidy little tricks to keep the lifestyle they're accustomed to but we cannot afford to sustain.   Why would y

That last paragraph, the 'mob-handed' bit, let me tell you, NOT in my department. It is one where as people have retired, or moved-on, they have never been replaced. The workload has increased and the staff dealing with it have taken it on with barely a grumble. So don't fucking lump us all with that shit.

OK. But if the workload has increased and the number of staff has decreased then either the current outputs fall short of the requirement or the operation was overstaffed and is being "rightsized" by natural wastage.

You may be right ,but when I was 'working' for a London local authority way back and the department was understaffed individuals had to decide what we did and what we left undone.

The problem was that what you didn't do , with hindsight from management (lol) was considered more important than what you did do ………and guess who ended up in the "do-do's".

The levels of management made the organisation top heavy and the best bit was that in order to determine output they divided the number of jobs done/actions taken by the total number of staff (including the managers who did nothing but drink tea and "supervise").

We were then told to increase our 'output' , we opted to work directly under the 'managers supervision' and let them make all the decisions ………..until we could get another job elsewhere.

I don't know what Quilp's position is but it may be unfair to slag off those at the sharp end when the 'dead wood' in the middle and towards the top may need pruning out.

Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne has said he will walk away from politics if he has to compromise his morality or conviction.

What conviction is that, then?

Oh yes - I remember.

It's almost to easy when they freely offer us such an abundance of comedic material. biggrin.png

Effing clowns,is indeed the appropriate title for most of them.

I quite like the idea of Phil Gawne wearing a battered old hat and a holster, Indiana Jones style, to take on the evil brutes in LegCo.

I see him more as Iron Man. Stomping around in a protective battle suit masking the fact that there is a man with incredibly few superpowers hiding under costume. Just be careful if he deploys the flame throwers, your house could go up in smoke (if there's a suggestion that you might be English).

I know who it was and it was face to face but ...... not like Minister Gawne has made it out. It was an exchange of views, Gawne took the hump and is now using this as a smokescreen for the amount of complaints being directed at DEFA.

Well, you can't have a smokescreen without..... oh, come on.... we must have gone through all of the 'fire' jokes by now. Isn't there someone with even a spark of origina.... oh.... shit!

It has to be Phil's incandescence that's kept the embers glowing this long.

It strikes me that it will remain an unquenchable hot topic in the melting pot of forum discussion for a while yet.
