Peel Takeaways

Recommended Posts

Any Peel residents recommend any takeaway establishments? New to the area and tried one last night which can best be described as vile.

I don't live in Peel, when I visit my preference is the Archway chippy (or however it's called).

The Indian restaurant on Atholl place seems popular for takeaways (& the Chinese almost next door)

Anatolia pizzas are pretty good, the special takes some beating.

Indian in Atholl place is very good and cheap if a takeaway. Lamb bhuna with pilau rice, best on the way home after a lap of the pubs.

Hong Kong delight is ok, but it has the worst takeaway ordering area in the world.

Don't use the others much but just walked by town pizza on the prom and it looks awful, so guessing the rest is as bad.

Jade Harbour takeaway menu has changed dramatically (for the worse)

Are new people in charge?

Anyone else remember the Creel Chippy in Michael Street. Dad used to drive us to Peel as a treat to get the best chips on the island and we ate them on the breakwater

John - I do. Peel was 'famous' for the fish and chips when you and I were young, always worth the drive (in my case from Ramsey).

How times change...

DT - in those days the fish was freshly landed, which makes a big difference.

No Manx boat has white fish licence anymore

And no-one else can be bothered to land white fish? Amazing... :( .

It's all FAS (frozen at sea) these days

Skinned gutted filleted and frozen within minutes of being transferred to the factory ship

There are still day fishing folk down on the south coast of England where you will get freshly landed fish

Probably in Helford area as well - suggest you track one down

DT,

You're very right about day fishing near where I'll be living in Cornwall (move on May 7th). When I was over in March buying my house I went to http://www.thewrightbrothers.co.uk/restaurants/the_ferryboat_inn/ which is ~500 meters from the house. £15 for a plaice with all the trimmings - it was amazing.
