I thought it was brilliant theatre. Psyching your opponent goes on throughout the whole 90 minutes, you just don't see it as clearly as in the goldfish bowl of a penalty shootout.

Anyone who thinks that's unsporting probably hasn't played sport at any sort of competitive level because talking shit to your opponent is almost mandatory.

Van Gaal has big onions though. Yikes.

The Costa rican bloke showed great restrain if that had been me and krul had acted like that as soon as I scored the penalty I would have been up in his face.

none of the 4 left really stand out and its hard to choose a winner. Going to stick with germany though

Brazil have to get to the final, otherwise rioting will ensue, so I'm told. They've not really played like world champions in my opinion, and they'll do well to get past the Germans without 'assistance'. Watch out for dodgy line and/or penalty decisions.

Nice to see all the sporting comments on England's early removal from the top footballing nations in the world, in BRASIL. and what fine judgement from the experts in selecting Costa Rica as the whipping boys of England's group. I think that position belonged to Engeraland. What now for the English. An Away tie to SWITZERLAND in September for the European Nations Trophy in 2016. Ah well there's always the World Cup 2018, and in their eyes Rooney will still be the greatest footballer in the world. At least I can get a seat in the Pub now for the Top matches , now that the fanatics have deserted. Not football supporters, just England supporters.

Why would there be rioting? Every tourney we hear how its going to be full if hooligans and fighting in sa 4 years ago the rape and murder rate was supposed to go through the roof. Any protests that have happened have by and large been peaceful

This is Brazil. Football is on the same level as Jesus there. If we kick the hosts out, it might well result in trouble.

The 'experts' had Spain down as a favourite too, as well as 'football supporters' not 'just England supporters'.
