Where is Lonan 3 ?

It's a shame to lose Lonan3 - always enjoyed his posts. But, as the man says, there are less constructive discussions here now, than there was a year ago. Much more snide back biting and open persecution, though. I find less desire to post these days - so many threads just deteriorate and go off track. Nor do I understand why people resort to using foul language in a post - are their vocabularies really that small?

Still, it keeps me in touch with home when I am off the island.

I have posted as Terse some years ago; I have used spoof accounts for fun – Geoff Cockish and the Evil One, for example; as well as thomasjefferson (little TJ as he became known), but I will not be using them again.

I thought that was Quilp. Haha.

The forums have government shills and private sector business people dependent on government subsidisation who deliberately try to chase people off who criticise the government or their businesses. I was going to stop posting over a year ago because of them, as it was impossible to post anything without things going downhill (which was their intention), but I decided I'd beat them at their own game and now you'll note they've given up to a large extent. Still, I do tire of anonymous goons who know my identity but enjoy cowardly posting insults behind the veil of anonymity here. I might create my own blog where comments are moderated or disabled by me. Too many trolls on here who just troll for trolling sake or with dubious agendas for my liking. I wish people were more transparent and open about their agendas.

until an attraction towards <removed by mod following a complaint by TSM> led to a painful downfall.

Isn't it the usual practice to make posts invisible pending investigation, rather than naming the complainant to all and sundry? I don't think this action removes altogether the original suggestion of sexual deviancy on my part, if anything it makes it worse leaving, as it does, the reader's imagination to fill in the gaps. With God only knows what! Please remove it more thoroughly.

Enjoyed chatting with you at the MF Birthday bash earlier this year - you seemed a good person. Enjoy your freedom. In many ways I am pleased by this post as I had genuinely become worried you had fallen ill or worse.

Having met Lonan3, I'd also thought that his health may have been getting the better of him, and I did miss the blog posts, despite being the only reader...

If he wants to go let him go.

His "friends" didn't help by drawing attention to his abscence and ringing him at home. Especially after it was confirmed he was ok. You only had to look at the out of character tone of his posts in recent months to see that it was wise for him to take a break. All pestering him has achieved is turn a graceful exit stage left into a tired and emotional rant during the curtain call.

I think you think too much about what people post, its just a forum post Declan, it's not 'the window to his soul'. People breeze in and out of posting here, thats part of the fun, its like a pub with new people in (not that I go to pubs...but if I did)

I agree. Some people on here take other people's posts far too seriously. As for people supposedly leaving, they probably just have other things to do or created other accounts, etc. I know I posted then stopped posting for months and months thinking the place was boring as hell, then came back. I think we shouldn't read too much into people posting or not posting. Lighten up, folks. Have a spliff. Meditate. Clear your chakras. Don't be emos.

I'm with TJ, baffled why people get so wound up by forum posts. As for staying/leaving whatever - sometimes I read the forum and post, sometimes I don't. I don't read all threads, sometimes there's a few that interest me. Why take it all so personally?

We could definitely do with a few more posters prepared to back up their assertions with a bit of reasoning. I'm also frustrated by people who seem to disagree purely based on who posted it rather than the content. But hey, that's people innit?
