Mass Hysteria On Facebook Over IoM Burglaries

Recommended Posts

There is a very well organized gang of thieves on the island that have been steeling diesel/ central heating oil in very large quantities for a few years now and getting away with it. (Not been reported much for some reason but it is happening) Maybe that lot have followed government advice and diversified?

My mum had her oil tank emptied a couple of times, in the same year, once it was perhaps a week after it had just been filled, prompted her to have a proper lock put on the back door, instead of just a hook and eye latch, a lock on the tank cap, and an automatic light on a sensor in the back yard. The tank hasn't been touched since but the light does a great job of spooking the neighbourhood cats!

that's horrible Lao. i've heard this happened to a few people i know. i'm sorry for your mum's loss there.it is sad. really sad x

To be fair though he is still recovering from being the victim of crime after that bloke broke in and stole all his payslips.

She is,

I don't agree at all. The police are using social media effectively when required, but don't want to post premature or unfounded information there to start a panic.   Nobody can stop individuals po

Ahh thanks, I didnt join. Has anyone been reported to have been hurt apart from the girl in the flat?

Is there any description (apart from the balding guy in his 30`s in one of the earlier attempts) of the burglars?

More again last night. Port St Mary.

Where are you getting the info for this and the Majestic ect? - IOM Breakins?

Haven`t seen it listed on police or news sites.

Real time reporting on social media. Waiting for police updates is so last century.

The girl didn't get hurt in the flat because of the break in. She was attacked in the Outback. How you can confuse the two is anyone's guess!

I imagine quite a few girls have been broken into in the Outback.

Which "news" site is sensationalising the "hurt in burglary" fantasy, so that I can add it to my Fiction Bookmarks?

To be fair I think they are just quoting a police statement and for some reason they haven`t bothered correcting this, meaning most ( not following IOM breakins)will be under the impression that a girl was attacked in the process of one of the burglaries meaning they will probably think that if they show up at their house their family might get hurt and take action into their own hands.I can`t understand why the police would leave it hanging like that if they know otherwise.

Yeah but the Facebook Police have solved another non crime, meanwhile in the real world more burgularies last night. Sadly the Police were all on Facebook chasing the sad fantasies of a bunch of chavs.
