Neil Down
So everyone on the Island now knows the names of the "four individuals" except me. "The email reads: ‘The Isle of Man Financial Crime Unit wishes to advise all Isle of Man regulated entities that the following individuals and companies are currently part of an active criminal investigation with regard to a variety of serious offences, and would ask that a search of your records takes place for evidence of any type of business conducted with any of these individuals or companies, as well as any other entity associated to or with the subjects. ‘Any suspicion should be reported to the FCU and without delay. Grounds for suspicion should be clearly stated.’ It names four individuals, all of whom live in the Isle of Man, and 25 different Manx-registered companies" The names will come out soon enough....is one of the moderators from here missing
JessTickle
I'm sure the mods are watching every post on this thread, so perhaps one of you could be so kind as to answer a question? Out of general interest, can you advise: what information on posters can be accessed by any individual moderator, and what steps, if any,are taken to prevent any personal use of any information they can access due to their position as moderator Thanks in advance Not sure of what you are getting at, but check the t&cs. As a mod I do not have access to personal information I'm surprised that you don't know why I have asked, but thank you very much for confirming the moderators do not have access to our personal information. Neil Down
Isle of Man Newspapers website "While Isle of Man Newspapers has seen the email, we have decided not to publish those details after taking legal advice." It looks like the named must be part of the Manx Mafia lot. Anyone else would have had their picture and personal details splashed all over the front page. If it were you or I Wann, our names would have been plastered all over the media

Gladys
It is a criminal investigation, the names will be released at the right point in the investigation. As a poster said above, check with your MLRO if you have any doubts.

bankerboy
Yeah, keep making random shit up people. That's not what was meant: but this is a Premier League shit-storm and for lots of reasons people should use common sense about what they post on here. has anyone posted any names, initials,or nom de plumes that points the dreaded lurgy at the so called perps? The Advisory Notice process is pretty useful in circulating info fast to the sector, but given sensitivities I'm not sure why this particular notice wasn't restricted to senior management or compliance. As it is, it's been pretty widely circulated, and I'm sure the names will be made public shortly- but not by me! There's nothing in the notice to say its restricted or confidential, so I don't understand why the newspapers won't publish it, but that's their call. However, if you enjoy cryptic crosswords, go back through the postings. Although there might have been four individuals mentioned in this notice, the Police's facebook page earlier said that: "Four of the warrants being undertaken under section 22 (1) of the Criminal Justice Act 1991, are assisting requests from HMRC to search premises on the Island central to their investigation into a suspected £21 million VAT and money laundering fraud. Two further searches are being conducted under section 12 of the Police Powers and Procedures Act 1998 (PPP) in respect of linked matters involving Conspiracy to Launder Money and An Act Against Public Justice on the Isle Of Man." So if we suppose that these four named persons in the email related to the CJA investigations, surely the question now is - who or what are the other two parties? NeverAgain
People sound so surprised to hear of a 21 million money laundering/tax fraud, I certainly wasn't.
