According to man in the pub, the clock in the tower in Foxdale is stopped because the government forbids anyone to climb up and adjust it in view of the health and safety rules.

I believe this to be true.

Someone driving past the other day noticed the time in Foxdale had stopped: in 1846.
That was me. Though in my defence I did have a permit to do some 'weather' experiments....and nothing at all to do with that rumour of turning up in a DeLorean, and trying to collapse a mine to bump off Allan Bell's grandfather...Biff Bell.

It's more or less standard practice in most civilised countries of the world for public clocks that are out of order to either have the hands removed or have them set permanently to 12 o'clock.

 

It doesn't cost much and it's hardly rocket science except maybe in Foxdale.

That could explain the one in five obesity problem, and why so many fat people think it's always lunchtime.
