Phil's (latest) Folly

Recommended Posts

spook will grasp at anything that validates his decision to move away from the Isle of Man.

Don't take his word on anything that paints the Isle of Man in a bad light. He might - randomly - be right on occasion but never forget that his motivation is to convince himself that he was right all along to leave

Don't be an idiot all your life, take a holiday once in a while.

I CARE about the Island in spite of having left and it breaks my heart to see the likes of the fool Gawne underwriting this insanity.

If there really was no issue then how come dumping the poisonous silt at sea but close to land was considered too hazardous?

Very much so, especially concerning the tourist tax being introduced into Get . Yarmouth, the shocking state of the Pleasure Beach, and how scruffy the landau drivers are.

Do you ever post anything on a Norfolk forum about events in Norfolk?

This is a really big deal.

Sorry spooky but it isn't. Silt has been accumulating in Peel Harbour for much longer than the marina has been in place.

Here's a Tynwald Hansard from 1903. http://www.tynwald.org.im/business/hansard/19001920/tc-19030424-v0020.pdf

At a cost of £10k!

When the annual education budget was £15.5k. Although the member for Peel thought this was too much because 32 years before the Governor had promised the bill wouldn't be above £800

And there's a comic debate about a road to Bradda Head that they've built but can't decide whether to recognise it.

And that silt didn't contain concentrated heavy metal, it would have been mostly just solids that had built up.

The silt today is different. It's concentrated heavy metals because of the action of the Marina.

This stuff is NASTY.

Direct action, get to Peel and blockade the harbour and quarry.

It's pointless holding meetings, when it comes to this Government, it's bloody obvious, they ain't listening.

When are people going to recognise Phil Gawne as the establishment sucking creep he is. Forget the past - he was a just a stupid naughty boy, he's not much different now except he knows which side his bread is nicely buttered.

This matter is very much more important than individuals.

It is going to affect peoples health long into the future. This report on contamination during normal run off, dilution, and dispersion is shown here and indicates that the contaminants coming down the Neb is significant and that is before it became concentrated in the Peel settlement pond aka the Marine.

http://core.ac.uk/download/pdf/6186730.pdf

This next document from Isle of Man government records CLEARLY IDENTIFIES that there categorically IS a toxic hazard due to leachate from mine workings entering the Neb via tributaries draining contaminated sources and made VERY MUCH WORSE by the action of the settlement pond aka the Marina.

https://www.gov.im/media/983559/2.4_marine_pollution.pdf

To transport this poison by road in itself is bad enough, to allow it to spill is unforgivable, and if 'normal' road sweeping then takes place there is a further real hazard as a result of heavy metal contaminated dust being dispersed into the air.

Then to dump the contaminated material on land as a 'temporary measure' that implies it will be moved elsewhere at some future (unspecified) time meaning that once again it will be transported by road ----- and to where?

You couldn't make it up, you really couldn't.

People, this is a BIG DEAL.

It's galling hearing Phil Gawne's voice blasting out on Manx Radio in the advert for Isle of Man Farmers..."lighten your carbon footprint..." with all this contaminated sludgy stuff splashing about.

Phil Gawne - the farmers' friend. They won't have their £millions of grants cut as long as they have got him tucked into the fold.
