Help needed!

I have been "upgraded" this week to from the Sure 16Mb ADSL to the Sure 40Mb VDSL service. 2 days have now passed from MT visit and I still have no internet! Contacted Sure help desk last night, have been into store today and contacted help desk again tonight but I am no further forward!

Sure have now provided me with 2 sets of settings for the VDSL 40Mb so I am looking for someone with Sure to confirm which works for them, if either are correct!

Option 1

ATM settings VPI 0 VCI 38

Encapsulation PPPoE

Authentication CHAP

Primary DNS 212.30.8.70

Secondary DNS 212.30.16.251

Protocol PPPoE

Modulation Type ITU-T 993.2

Option 2

Encapsulation: PTM PPPoE

Authentication: CHAP

Primary DNS: 46.31.200.20

Secondary DNS: 212.30.16.252

Protocol: Point to point protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE)

Transport protocol – Packet Transfer Mode (PTM)

Modulation Type: DMT or Auto

Interleaving / Impulse Noise Protection on – default setting

Interleaving / INP off – optional

VLAN – Off

Any pointers would be much appreciated

Cheers.

Now resolved. Sure gave me one of their routers to try and it connected up straight away to the internet. I was very suspicious at this so checked the settings and sure enough the DNS servers I had been given were different. I configured my ASUS router to these setting and it worked first time.

My connection is now up and good.

Secondary DNS: 93.187.151.197

  • 11 months later...

Just ordered the Netgear D7000 100UKS Nighthawk AC1900 router. I have my login details for my Superfast broadband from Sure but will get no help from Sure setting up my new router as I didn't buy one from them.

Is there anyone on here who is with Sure and using Superfast broadband and has a Netgear router and set it up them selves which of the settings below did you use?

Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 WIFI VDSL/ADSL D700

Chapter 3 Manage the Internet Settings Manually

Use the Internet Setup Wizard After Initial Setup.........................................44

Manually Set Up an ADSL Internet Connection............................................49

Shouldnt matter where you are or what ISP. It auto detects the connection type and then asks for your ISP login. DNS will be auto resolve. Thats if the wizard is any good.

Ok thank you for that I will try the wizard when the router arrives.

I'm on an old DGN3700V1 and what works for me :-

Encapsulation PPPoE

username@surevdslplus.com

DNS 8.8.8.8

DNS 8.8.4.4

Multiplexing VC-Based

VPI 0

VCI 38

DSL Mode Auto

Transfer Mode PTM

Syncs at over 80Mb/sec down and 10Mb/sec up so no reason to change it.
