Zammo Maguire
Oh shitting hell. I'm meant to be on it on Saturday. I don't think that will happen now. Any chance of getting Maduncleronnie down there with a hammer and a can of paint. If it needs a bit more work on it than a tin of paint and a hammer - i think it's going to be out of service for a while - at least till they get a new wave piercing part or repair which will require dry dock. I don't think you need to be an expert to work that one out Sounds like jouster talk to me that
Annoymouse
I swear they've bought a lemon. It was palmed off on the US military by the previous owners and by the sound of things, the low number of operational hours for the age which the Steam Racket claim is a good thing may be something to do with the fact it never works. Edit to add: It sitting in Liverpool doing nothing for months at a time probably upsets it too, much like a car gets creaky if you park it up for too long. There isn't much they can do about it being parked up, its unfit for purpose during the winter months anyway.
Batmans Mate
It's unfit for purpose unless something happens to the Ben then they put it back into service. She was kept here for most of the winter as a backup. It would have been helpful if they had somebody to talk to this morning but oh no . . Not until after 8:30 and the post on their news page looks like it was last night but it didn't go up until this morning. They just have no regard for their customers.

Matilda33
It's being described as a collision, but isn't it actually a crash? I'm probably wrong, but I always thought a collision was between two moving objects. A collision is "an instance of one moving object or person striking violently against another." anything/anyone can indeed have a collision. I recently had a collision with my desk at work, got up in a rush and now have a sore knee. I wouldn't say I had "crashed into my desk" lol

If you're on the boat it is apparently the pier that is moving.

To be fair, they would not have been able to talk to all of the people who are booked in the coming week. It would be chaotic even to try. Fully agree that the online info should be bang up to date. ballaughbiker
Unless you were on tonight's sailing from Liverpool trying to change to this afternoon's from Heysham. When I started ringing, tonight's Liverpool was still showing as going when it clearly wasn't. By the time they answered (20 mins on hold which is hardly surprising) this afternoon's was full so it will have to be tomorrow.
SamHandwich
MAIB only investigate accidents in UK waters or involving UK ships (neither of which is the case here).
x-in-man
They reported a collision and subsequent sinking within 6nm miles of the Isle of Man - so they were in Manx territorial waters of 12nm.

Zammo Maguire
Have H&C been to check if the pier was in a dangerous position? Well both the Lady of Mann and the Manannan have hit it now. Two boats but the pier is the constant. Seems like the piers fault to me.

oldmanxfella
Isn't the Ben in for it's mandatory 2 year brush up in the next few weeks? Makes you wonder if we will have any boat at all whilst both are out of action.
