The Madness Goes On

Recommended Posts

Going back to the OP:

"The IoM Government is advertising for a 'Specialist Stop Smoking Advisor'. the salary is up to £38,214 pa"

That's probably what is now called 'virtue-signalling'. Govt saying 'Look at what we are doing to protect the health of our citizens'. PS Carry on chaps, we need your £20m.

Is that to go with the stop drinking, and stop wanking advisers? This Island and its civil service really have lost all touch with reality - £40k a year for a civil servant to tell people to stop smok

They should have a take up smoking adviser. The extra tax income and shortened life spans could end the pension crisis in no time

So lets give an average of say £22,000/annum each (I'm guessing it's more) but that's £264,000 of salary to tell people to throw a few things round.   Give me half that and I'll organise the lot. H

That's 12 positions basically overseeing what people used to oversee for free - namely people kicking or throwing balls around. Remember the big hockey and the football festivals? Those happened in the good old days when we didn't have state funded SDOs. Just enthusiastic amatuers who did it because they loved the sport. Also cycling which has had no SDO and yet has been a global success where we've had Olympic medals. It's just more proof that the more civil servants you throw at something the less successful they actually manage to make it.

Give me half that and I'll organise the lot. Hockey, Cricket, Badminton, Curling, Underwater Cycling, Dwarf Throwing anything they want.
