Treasury will take a hit when the uk returns all the manx pound coins

Who in UK is going to send them back?

Banks wont accept Manx £1 coins in UK, so they stay with the individuals. If some get into the banking system the banks cannot palm them off on the Bank of England, it wont take them. How much is it going to cost a UK bank to bundle up and deliver to IOM Bank to swap for UK notes? Not worth it

bank of england is going to return them according to the mint guy on daily politics a few months ago

Round UK pound coins will be gradually sorted and sent back across over the coming months.

I bought 100 fake pound coins in Wigan years ago for twenty quid. Couple of hours in an arcade and walked out with £60 in real money. It would take a long time to become rich with fakes.

lilangeni are minted by the royal mint, the same size and weight, go and empty a cig machine and sell the cigs. its been going on for years, linked to the costa del sol

20 to the £1 you do the maths.....

Yeah. And by the time you take the boat fare into account you'd be lucky to break even. Good old Steamy. Our Island lifeline and our protector from dodgy round pound dumpers.

Are you saying I was ripped off?

£22.50 an hour profit don't seem badthumbsup.gif

empty the bandit,coin-op in the toilets and cig machine, why bother smuggling cigs when you can walk through customs with as many coins as you wish...

the guy in spain that started it in the 90's has a massive villa and was shipping pallets of them every day

after next week, the fakes will be more prevalent and with only one market to get rid of them, the iom. uk banks don't tend to check coins but you can guarantee the bank of england will....
