Ham_N_Eggs
Speaking about horsetrams... why is there a bill proposed for the redevelopment of the prom and tramways? isn't this going to delay the prom more?
Speak The Truth
24 pages of bullshit written by civil servants, accredited to a pompous, arrogant fat arsehole. I would have much rather seen one page that said. We will not waste money on self promotion. We will not waste money on consultants. We will accept previous mistakes and rectify them without the use of gagging orders. We will sort the public pensions fiasco. No government document shall be redacted claiming commercial sensitivity. No government employee shall be allowed to resign and keep their benefits when they should be sacked. All citizens shall have full access to all un-redacted information about them held by all government departments. It would be a start.

Andy Onchan
What's in that document that's not in Vision2020? Which, incidentally, we've yet to have a midterm report on.

gettafa
Demonstrate sustainable public finances with clear recognition of financial targets that support Government priorities Good. Do it. Improve the way we consult and engage on new policies and legislation, taking into account the possible use of pre-legislative committees in Tynwald Good. Do it. For many reasons, too many to mention here Make best use of our Islands land and seas for leisure and work through food, agriculture and fisheries strategies, plus tourism and recreational use that work together with our environment Stop pouring milk waste into Douglas Bay Take care of nature and wildlife so that our uplands, plantations, glens, and rivers can help us deal with the challenges of a changing climate No mention of the sea. See above. Provide proper disposal routes for problematic wasteSee above, above Better manage the way we deal with historic and current waste whilst improving environmental management See above, above, above Edited January 11, 2017 by gettafa
Albert Tatlock
La La Land...where 100,000 suckers live and work hard keeping 10,000 government salaries and pension funds topped up to the max. Has Howard actually been outside the Tynwald building anytime in the last 5 years? FFS. The real issue is he believes his own drivel.
gettafa
Continue to modernise our criminal justice system through the implementation of the Criminal Justice Strategy Take a look at the Civil Courts and Justice System. Currently it would appear to be a plaything for certain deemsters and a huge money making industry for their pals in The Society. Not many people would want to locate to a place that runs a parallel justice system, now, do they. Complete the regional sewerage infrastructure by the end of this administrationNice thought but no chance Conduct an independent review of Manx Utilities financial position to assess the ongoing stability of its long-term financial plan and the assumptions that underlie it Try taking a look at the past finances too. Tynwald select committee produced a thorough report on MEA. Tell anyone involved to read that first - you have to know where we have been before we can know where we are going. Consider prosecutions, and if there is a problem with Limitation Act (although there is no limitation on fraud) then consider public censure. Jesus, they all got away with it, all those £millions... Work with the MUA to limit cost increases in the short term for water, sewerage and electricity to reduce the impact of charges and utility rates on economic activity and the cost of living In other words, no room for any more squeezing, the pips are squeaking already. Obviously, these basic costs make the Isle of Man an unattractive place to live. Edited January 11, 2017 by gettafa
gettafa
Create a team to identify opportunities, efficiencies and savings in public finance expenditure to meet the cost reduction targets which will be identified in the 2017/18 budget. Go further, bring in an off-Island firm of management consultants to go through government like a dose of salts. This is not slash and burn, this is ridding of dead wood. The green shoots will grow. (Hah, isn't that a la Chauncey Gardiner) Present to Tynwald a feasibility study on considerations relating to a Single Resident Record for the Isle of Man by December 2017 Yach! Do not embark on this route.... Organise a Year celebrating our Island as a special place to live and work in 2018Ban Manxforums for that year Develop a rent deposit protection mechanism and associated tenancy arbitration process, together with other necessary landlord and tenancy arrangements English rent deposit protection facilities can be used on Isle of Man. Introduce a new Manx State Pension in 2019Aye, that going to be fun isn't it. Agreements don't count it seems, when talking about state pensions, only government employee pensions are gold plated and agreement protected then? Publish hospital waiting lists by April 2017Good. No need to leave people in the dark. No need for secrets no matter how embarrassing it is for the hospital when it is to do with people's health Edited January 11, 2017 by gettafa
