Ramsey Courthouse For Sale

Anyway, much as it's fun to hear about everyone's little foibles, back on topic, what use is Ramsey Courthouse going to be put to? Cafe, restaurant, little Ramsey themed museum?

Model railway exhibition. steam railway, MER, horse trams, and of course, monorail.

on a more serious note, when it was being knocked about we joked about what a delightful little bistro upstairs would make.  It really is about all it is fit for, space wise without spending probably over a hundred grand on it.

Getting it up and running with some rental coming in would be a big step forward now. Maybe we can find somewhere else which already has the space to further the really noble initiatives of THOR?

By the time tourists are allowed back people could have done a couple of grows, everything could be in place for a massive cash injection to the Island. It is so so obvious. You'd have MERA paid back in 2 months.

Why would people come here for dope though? Given that it's not prosecuted and freely available in most of the UK

Maybe you should return home where your ideas are not laughed at. Are you actually being serious ?

No , I don’t expect you to lower yourself to answer that.

For a similar reason to going to Amsterdam. There is something very satisfying about going in somewhere with a menu and choosing.

Well, if Ian Longworth fulfils his wet dream about running the MER into the town centre it'll have to be dropped to make the new station. All aboard, ticket holders.

Is Brits going there to get monged still a thing? Are people even still allowed to smoke indoors there?

I totally agree that it should be legal @TheTeapot. It's no business of the law to be involved. But I'd hate to see the Isle of Man become a stoner destination. I don't particularly agree that it should be taxed or commercialised either.

Its been a few years since I was there, but there were lots of people getting monged of all nationalities. You can't smoke tobacco indoors, most cafes provided a herbal smoking mix for free if you didn't fancy taking your head off with a pure joint of super silver haze like some idiots (me) do.

I was there last year. It hasn’t changed that much. They’re certainly not stopping you smoking indoors as suggested other than cigarettes ;) It seems to still work ok. Portugal has legalized too. Again seems to be a relative success.

Sorry, bit of latent racism above to get through before hitting the sensible stuff again.

- that rails into town thing has gone a bit quiet again, hasn’t it? Blackpool has run its tram lines right up to the main railway station, which I did wonder about but now they’ve electrified the main line it sort of makes sense as a transport interchange, meaning that big parts of the Fylde Coast can connect via major rail links. Ramsey? Other than it might look quaint, I’m not sure what it might add, but I think there was talk of the buses moving up there too. If not, There’s a great redevelopment opportunity to be had if they just tidy up the MER stop as it is with maybe a couple of platforms, leaving that great big bit next to the car park to do something special with. I think Fynoderee being at the end of the line will be a big draw too. Who knows, someone might even redevelop the Methodist Hall so it has a drinks licence too so it can hold functions.

Loads of possibilities, and with the DOI ready to spend money on the quay, let’s hope we seize the day. I note that some of the objectors are already planning to hole things below the waterline. In the current climate, there’s a real danger it will be decades before the opportunity comes again if the reality of austerity light comes on within Government.

Austerity ? . What is this word he right honorable gentleman is bandying about. We the high and mighty worthy's of this scepted isle will have non of it. I ask, nay demand it is struck from the minutes. And consequences for its use in the future be both severe and unjust.
