Unless my memory is failing me I think it started at nowt!

Not quite nowt, but I think the term was something like it would be at no net cost to the Manx taxpayer, or something meaningless like that.

The developers must be laughing all the way to the bank.

What's going to be finished first?

The Liverpool Ferry Port, or Douglas Promenade?

Safe money is on the monorail to the felt museum to be finished first

I just saw a video of Phil Gawne in 2016 asking for 3.5 million for the land lease for the landing stage. The poster of that video asked an interesting question about the ongoing financing of the packet, pointing out that the finance already, taking into account the new boat and the landing stage is already north of 250m and rising !

The Portuguese bank must have been rocking with delight to offload the company at the point Government stepped in !

There's some nice (and delightfully bitchy) contextualising from Moulton here.  A few days ago, he did a pretty damning update from the site, where despite all the cash supposed to have been spent, not much seems to have happened:

Then yesterday he put up a couple of archive videos.  The first from July 2016 when Minister Gawne was trying to tell Moulton what a good deal (at £3.5 million) Peel were giving us:

and the second from September 2018 when Uncle Joe seemed fairly clueless about everything, possibly practising ignorance of what was going on for future trials:

Of course they have managed to screw up the waterfront so much that they have since lost their UNESCO designation, which despite the bravado is a big flag to international tourists saying "Nothing to see here now".

What isn't widely known is the fact that Mr Whittaker offered the DoI a turnkey solution for the Liverpool berth. Something that they neglected to tell the Treasury, until they had blown millions and were asking for more!

This amounts to criminal mismanagement in order to be managing a huge budget. Our CS mandarins do not act in the best interests of the island, they are far too busy playing egotistical maniacs at every bloody level. I don't see our elected representatives ever being able to rein them in.

Presumably someone / or some people, signed the contract that has got us where we are ! Do we know who they are ? and if so they should be asked to provide a full and frank explanation of their actions.

If what I'm hearing is correct then that is in process as we speak, how the eventual 'punishment' will be phrased or handled, we can only guess!

Surely it comes under the remit of the Director of Ports?

(The clue is in the name...)
