Taxpayers to dig for £20M for Liverpool Dock

Recommended Posts

I'm wondering how long it will be before the new residents of the area start complaining about the ordinary car traffic to and from the terminal, let alone the freight that's been successfully debarred from use. And if they do, what happens then?

To be fair the whole thing is a passenger vanity project to ensure the good people of the Island can go to the footy and get dropped off in the middle of Liverpool for shopping. Little or no freight will be going through this port.

To be fair to the Govt if they hadn't done this and people couldn't shop or go to the footy there would have been public uproar.

It's a case of damned if you do damned if you don't.

Actually disagree with this . Okay years ago it would be a valid argument when all games would be on Saturday afternoon but it's changed so much now. Games can be on any day of the week and spread across Saturday's and Sunday's . The days are gone when the Boat was a great option to get games . Plane really is the only way tbh which still involves possibly a overnight stay

OK with that in mind perhaps it has been a far less justifiable expense. Did we need a ferry berth in Liverpool?

& the residents of the new hotel planned immediately adjacent, to the south

They won't appreciate the Manannan manoeuvring very close by, even if it as 5 knots

Well if they complain about shipping in the Mersey they should probably be pushed in.

12,000-odd motorbikes a couple of times a year may disturb the sleep patterns somewhat though....
