Tarne 2,511
Just look around, so many empty units that are bought as safe investments for dirty money. The Government welcomes the investment as it keeps house prices high. *shrugs* And then they wonder why 20-35 year olds leave the island.

x-in-man 2,241
The government sit on plenty of land in Douglas that could be re-built on.. no need to start building on virgin sites, unless there are handy back-handers to get planning through.
2bees 1,834
They'll not be happy until there are minging estates all over the place.
2112 2,086
Incidentally what's happening to the Park Road School site? Much trumpeted fanfare and government bullshit but still nothing happening, except it's a Government owned and government employees allowed car 🚗 park, or wasteland. On another matter, the Salisbury Street Care Home 🏡 still hasn't opened.
woolley 19,198
Incidentally what's happening to the Park Road School site? Much trumpeted fanfare and government bullshit but still nothing happening, except it's a Government owned and government employees allowed car park, or wasteland. On another matter, the Salisbury Street Care Home still hasn't opened. They're applying the Lord Street Bus Station strategy. Watch this space. (For a VERY long time).
Tarne 2,511
That's a long wait for a bus don't come.
Andy Onchan 4,124
IOMG does not have a planning strategy. There are more commercial units/properties empty now than at any other time since I moved to the Island almost 36 years ago.
2bees 1,834
And still they allow for more to be built, it's totally crazy.
Manx Bean 979
The island is like MF..in steady decline.
