Manx.net emails

Recommended Posts

It is so long since I have had to use my password to log on, I have forgotten it. If I click "forgotten password" MT will send me an e-mail.

So what should I do? Ring them up?

According to what I heard, the forgotten password feature via email will only work if you gave them an alternative email address when you signed up.

Give them a ring and they will issue a temporary password to get you in and then you can change it to something that you prefer.

A very helpful MT technician, after a few security questions, has given me a new passward.

The new set up is a shambles at the moment, the colour of the script is light blue and hard to read.

The worst problem is the inabilty to connect with my server.

If this continues for a couple more day I shall have to use a Google account or similar

Passwords

If you use a mail client (like Mail on a Mac) you will also need to change the passwords in the Mail client.

On my Mac I was prompted for the password when I tried to download emails and when I tried to send emails.

I have found that the passwords do not work immediately - you may have to try several times over a few minutes.

Selectively deleting emails

I found that my wife's email account had over 3,000 emails in it.

She wanted to keep some old ones, so I could not delete them all.

However, you can Empty the Inbox to Trash and then move back the ones you want to keep (suggested by one of the support staff):

First a safety check:

Click on the silhouette of a head (top right of the page)

Click on 'Options'

Click on 'Mail'

Select 'General' (the default)

Check that 'Move deleted messages to Trash folder' IS ticked

Then:

Click on the Inbox

Select 'Manage Content' from the menu

Select 'Empty Folder'

This moves all emails to Trash.

Right-Click on an email in Trash that you want to keep

Click on 'Move to Folder'

Select 'Inbox'

Click 'OK'

You can select groups of emails by Hold Ctrl+left click (use Hold cmd+left click on a Mac)

Repeat for the emails you want to keep!

There is a instruction book for the system:

Click on the silhouette of a head (top right of the page)

Click on 'Help'

Click on 'Download IceWarp WebClient User Guide'

Save the pdf document - it is just 134 pages long!

Help also lists Keyboard Controls etc which are very useful.
