New Peel Bus Routes...

Why does the number 6 bus go into Peel from Douglas along the prom and to the Town Hall. Then goes to the Ballawattleworth Estate and then hides at the swimming pool and goes back along the prom and back round the Ballawattleworth and then on to Douglas via the Town Hall.

Surely the non-entity that is Ray Harmer MHK is not involved. Was he not the creature that lives up there and formed the Oak Road action front to stop that road being built in the first place.Despite the fact that it was on the plans ..

Who is in charge of the buses...Oops.

I cannot critise the other member for the west as the Bold Baron Boot is much too precious to even know what a bus is...

actually for those who live in north Peel up the Hill it is a good route - you can get off within easy walking distance of the Town hall from the Prom if you need to (or walk along Albany Rd) but for tourists the route along the Quay + Prom is fine then it serves Ramsey Road side before turning into Ballawattleworth and then serves to pick up from the swimming pool etc - personally think is is an excellent route

So nothing to do with the bus route more of a rant at Harmer and Boot

All that waste and in the sometime distant future when the much fixed Foxdale Road (this time with a massive 40 year life - allegedly) re-opens there will be a skeleton service to Castletown and the South from Peel so that it is useless for those of us that work at the airport.

Neil Down it is a rant about the misallocation of resources within a budget.

All that waste sending an empty bus around the Ballawattleworth TWICE when the service South via the airport is so piss poor.Of course if you live in Douglas or Port Erin there are three buses an hour.In the West if you go on holiday you get a taxi.

As for Francis it is a good route but TWICE in 20 minutes is overplay.Add in the fact that a bus comes from Ramsey every hour into town past the Estate and then the area is well served.

To be fair the buses have to go to and from the place so that passengers can travel to Douglas and back again.  This means that they appear more often in the timetables.  Given how much Peel has expanded over recent decades, it seems fair that the outlying parts should get some service.

That said, you do get the impression that the route map is so complicated, with eight differently numbered 5s and 6s, plus variations on those, because of politicians making vote-pleasing promises.  Douglas can be a bit like that as well, with all sorts of strange diversions because Cretney promised some long-dead granny a bus on her doorstep.  One downside of this is that the timetable can become so incomprehensible that people are uncertain how to use the buses.

I pointed out the way that the direct services between Peel and the South are being scrapped[1] on an earlier thread - and the lack of coverage for it happening.  It does mean that there is no way for people from the West to get to the Airport, either to fly or to work.  One of the oddities from the Census is that more people work in Malew (where the Airport) than in Peel itself (1649 v 1530), Though of course there are other employers in the parish such as Ronaldsway Aircraft and on the Balthane Estate.

[1]  Technically there are still three (four from the South).  On Sundays.  In Summer only.  I wonder if these are some sort of  Parliamentary trains, services run to say there is still a service when it is not really useful to anyone.  They only start from  20 August, which suggests the Foxdale roadworks won't be finished till (at least) then.

Ah but Jack, this is the type of news that MHK's get stuck into. Non essential and pleases some OAP somewhere. All this, while Rome burns.

It's actually very important issue if you're an OAP or, like me, someone who pays taxes and expects my tax money to not be wasted on subsidising pointless public transportation journeys.

Ignore him. He's clearly not well and has probably shat himself by now as the pubs have been open all day

It's obvious you're a drunk. Nobody needs a script writer to point that out. I don't even need to read what hboy says to point out. The amount of tiresome rubbish you post suggests you're probably drunk a lot of the time. Is this another meltdown as it's just getting too much to hold in the anger. Try listening to the Verve - now the drugs don't work. Very poignant lyrics.

Is there an adult nearby who can take you by the hand and guide you back to the ball pit
