Lingerie tycoon looks set to make IOM her new home

A pile like this, even if empty, will cost well north of £100k per annum to run. The level of detail there (which is immense) has to be maintained. The garden alone is crimped to within an inch of its life. That all needs attending to.

Even if Doug and Michelle bugger off to Monaco, he has left a legacy which for as long as it sits empty, and under its new owners, will keep some people going for some time to come.

He probably has more chance of selling this than I have of mine at £575k

In the last 18 months, only 7.5% of sales have been above £500k. Including commercial.

A local firm built the mansion and many more local firms and individuals made a lot of money from that property.

Like Derek says, it still needs maintaining and more locals will benefit.

It is also a very, very nice place. I have been in it and I've seen nowhere nicer.

....but it is such an inconsequential  provision of employment that it would not even show on a pie chart of our economy!

It is rather like saying that if all the unemployed could be sent to pick all the Blaeberries and Elderberries in our countryside to provide them with, what? a quid a kilo?. They would still need state support for the other 11 months of the year,  as would these gardeners in the winter.

These people have a nice house and grounds, they have lavished all care and continuity on it that was suited to their EGO, let's not pretend that it is an ongoing, viable industry that is going to see us through any economic difficulties that our economy may face.

It keeps one or two people employed, that is it!!! ... and who is to say that they will not work for the 'Monies' for 12k and claim income support to make a decent wage???
