manxman34
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-isle-of-man-41361111 Recruitment and retention is no problem, according to the DEC. Watch out for children being taught by whoever they can get, teaching outside of their subject specialism, and a consequent decline in standards. notwell
I know several teachers who did some teaching time in the UK and are now on island. There seems to be a common theme in that it's fairly awful teaching in many parts of the UK. So perhaps salary isn't everything.
Aristotle
There are some right little shits in the schools. Probably not as bad as in the UK, but still. It must be frustrating working in a school and not able to punch them.

It's already happening (very close to home, so's to speak), to include the application of medical procedures, where applicable, by staff with no qualification in the subject and only rudimentary training in some instances. Naturally, it's all in the name of budget cuts and savings. All well and good until it's YOUR child. It is only a matter of time until the shit hits the fan in a big way in these instances, IMHO.
