You can interpret any way you want, have whatever opinion you want, or deflect by pointing to others all you want.

Nothing you think or say is going to change the prevailing zeitgeist in the major world powers which is firmly opposed to these loopholes and dubious tax and VAT arrangements. Nor the simultaneous move by those same major powers to turn their own countries into de facto tax havens for the super-rich and international corporations. You seem to have your head firmly in the sand, denying the inevitable.  You hammering your keyboard denying the inevitable is a bit like King Cnut commanding the tide to stop coming in.

He’s just an angry finance sector wanker who can’t control his temper.

That's two opposing views. In a way they co-exist. Major world powers talk a good game but in reality they all guard their own piece of the action jealously. They would all like to rid the world of tax havens - except their own.

What rubbish! These people are putting plenty into the economy. VAT shmat. I'm over hating on the tax advantages the IoM might offer, we are keeping our population in work etc, I see now - thanks Panorama :)

Those "tax advantages" are going to be non-existent in the near future. All the loopholes are going to be closed. We need to be making preparations NOW for a post-finance economy of the future. We can't just leave it for ten years like past administrations have done with the civil service following on from the VAT cut (which is also going to be cut again by tens of millions in due course). All in all, this is not a time to be getting smug and saying "the Isle of Man came across well". We're about to be anal probed, big time.

And what is the post-finance economy going to consist of? How are we gong to be "anal probed" and what will be the upshot of that?

Yeah right. To understand the IOM is to think 5 years ahead of other people.

Thats whats we have to do. We have experts in it. But legally. And what we've been doing 30 years.

It's other govts that are behind.

Wake up to that...on average it pays your wages.

What a load of pompous nonsense. Even if we were 5 years ahead, we're about to become 500 years behind.

This is why in my first post here I advised that we look to contract the size of our economy, population and infrastructure. Tough times ahead! It's inevitable.

I agree, however reading the twitter acount of Panorama, they have been heaped masses of praise for a wonderfully carried out piece of investigative reporting. And the programme, or rather its subject, has been all over the BBC News, Radio 4 etc. It's the subject of the Jeremy Vine BBC R2 show today.

From the brainfart left who get told what to think.
