More shootings in the U.S.

That's a big 'might.' There were hundreds of thousands of belligerent communists in Germany in the thirties. They were armed but essentially powerless against the rising tide of Nazism.

Thank you Mr Sausages for your valuable contribution. Quote from this article:

" Few citizens owned, or were entitled to own firearms in Germany in the 1930s.[1] The Weimar Republic had strict gun control laws.[7] When the Third Reich gained power, some aspects of gun regulation were loosened, such as allowing ownership for Nazi party members and the military.[4]:672 The laws were tightened in other ways. Nazi laws disarmed "unreliable" persons, especially Jews, but relaxed restrictions for "ordinary" German citizens.[4]:670,676 The policies were later expanded to include the confiscation of arms in occupied countries.[8]:533,536 "

I find that the positioning of the mainstream media: " Various mainstream sources describe the theory as historically "dubious",[3] "questionable",[4] "preposterous,"[5] "tendentious",[6] and "problematic".[1] " supports the idea of weapon ownership against tyranny.

"Four killed in northern California shooting rampage"

It's ok, Donald's just sent god and the FBI to Sutherland springs, Texas.

Wrong place Donald, that one was two weeks ago. So hard to keep track of these mass shootings.

FFS 4 dead "rampage", forty, yes a rampage, four just business as usual.

If the Jewish community in 1930s Germany had been armed, history might have taken a differen turn.

Yes "armed" yet untrained or unprepared civilians versus a motivated, trained and extremely well armed military...

The US is averaging 1 school shooting a week, with 2018 looking to be a "record" year, based on the number of shootings at this time of year.

And I am sure the usual noises about "thoughts and prayers" will be made, as the list of innocent children grows ever longer.

After Sandy Hook, it became apparent that Americans are willing to put a price on keep their guns.

Unfortunately, all the dead children since then haven't met the bill so far.

I wonder how many of the parents of those poor children keep voting to allow ownership of firearms? You would think any sane person would realise that at this rate, sooner rather than later, it could be one of their family members

There seems little or no appetite to stop this, so all there is to do is note the horror of it and wait for the next one.

Well considering that Kentucky and Florida (where the most recent high profile shootings have occurred) are traditional Red states, its hardly surprising that the parents may have voted for Trump (who was a big NRA ticket candidate).
