So who did decide to "monitor" MF to make sure that everything put out was correct. (peoples own personal opinions) and was the same monitoring carried out with "facebook" too ?

You did yourself no favours with that interview, sorry. That piece sounded like it was straight into the microphone to me. How can you blame the editing?

I think you are over thinking this. The cops are a part of the digital community just like they are the physical community. There are bits they ‘monitor ‘for the dark stuff, like child pornography, terrorism, etc, and there are parts they ‘monitor’ as part of that community to engage with their publics.

Or of course, we could just ignore it all, let crime and misinformation run rife and see where that gets us. Maybe people would prefer to run on rumour and conjecture rather than the facts? Personally I’d rather have the latter as early as I could, rather than blindly stumble down the former road and look like a bit of a balloon at some point.

Ive also just noticed on the MR article it said I had a long history of “policing the site”. That was the mods job. I was just a bloke who happened to be in the cops that was on it. Like I said, I can’t control what they print or which part of a reasonably long interview they use.

Anyone who thinks the site isn't monitored 24/7 is deluding themselves. I'd be amazed if it wasn't. Derek was just the police PR man and I have no problem with his explanation. I think he's always been pretty straight and I've always taken his posts at face value. He brings a valuable perspective to the forum,

Good luck in the new job Derek, but why they would want to run a hospital like a business is beyond me. It strikes me that bringing in all these business managers has been the problem all along, not the solution.

Well - its that ol' editorial thing innit. I was asked a question, I answered it. What they use from the interview, and top and tail it with is up to them. it is, as they say, what it is. Not of earth shattering importance to ourselves or the wider world.

The point I was making is that you came across in a completely different light as to how you have subsequently claimed it was meant. Editing by the journalist is possible but only if you speak the words that allow them to do so.

Maybe next time you'd be better off not going on the radio to talk about Manx Forums when you are just a poster.

as a PR man you'd expect his communication skills to not require a 180 explanation after the event

I'm starting to suspect the Government Social Media person appointed to check and report on social media, or someone connected with our illustrious leaders is running a smear campaign against MF. Discredit and force infighting amongst the group members with an overall goal of getting it closed.

There's one for the conspiracy theorists?

That's not a new idea, I suspected such many moons ago bro. It's in the members only bit but I'm sure I've mused the idea here too.

@Derek Flint who believes everything they read on the internet?

Ideally, the role of management should mean that the absolute optimum use of Health Care Professionals time is spent on health care, and not on the tasks that provide the space and time for them to do their job, or get the punters in front of them.

(IMHO)

Juan, its not the first time that its happened, lets face it. Quite often in response to a view (which is all it was) given by someone, many megabytes have been given over to sub opinion, and sub-sub opinion on these pages. Does it really matter? Not really. Am I bothered the context is a bit off kilter? No, because in the great measure of things, its really not important.

What is important is the fact that the admins might eventually get totally fed up and completely pull the plug on the whole MF thing - which is what gave rise to the enquiry from Manx Radio.

Many of us in the cops read with interest these hallowed forums. Some were just interested in trying to work out who were lurking behind the nom de plume, for no more sinister reason that it was good sport. In other cases, we were able to provide information, facts, interpretation, or fill in gaps, which is all part of talking to the public. But sometimes, it got really silly and corrections had to be issued; I am sure many of us remember the time Gary Roberts broke cover to absolutely put the record straight on what was quite frankly scandalous, libellous garbage that was posted about him.

Thats the sort of stuff that really matters.

Rhumsaa even wears a false beard so that people don't recognise him.

Or so at least they might think he's one of the other (at least two that I know of, but apparently there are more) baldie et bearded chaps you see meandering down Strand Street. (One juggling balls, the other tells excellent stories. neither of whom are Rhumsaa. I know because I asked them)
