When most of us are on the road to work, after that you cannot get an appointment at all. I changed doctors because of this 8am at southern. Admittedly you'll need to dial at least 15 times. Albert Tatlock
The whole system design sucks. Unqualified people assessing you on the phone, an appointment only in 3 weeks, far too many malingerers and frequent visitors clogging it all up. Maybe it's time to move to a centralised assessment and booking system where you can be professionally assessed and prioritised and allocated an appointment (in these days of digital records not necessarily at your own practice). How many missed and wasted appointments because if the way things currently operate?

Centralised planning is working so well for the USSR (note, no 'E') and the rest of the communist bloc.
woolley
Too many wimps who are there if they sneeze. Too many old people with chronic ailments - simple demographics which will get worse. More treatments available that keep people alive for longer albeit in poor condition. Increased and unrealistic public expectations. Insufficient social care provision in an age of supposed "care in the community". Bureaucracy load.
doc.fixit
.......I agree even if I am an old person with a chronic ailment...lol.......fortunately I can manage most things over the 'phone or internet except the six monthly check ups with a consultant............. That's my experience too, and if you are ill the last thing you need is to be up at 8am being messed about! Crap system thought up by jobsworths imo. When my doctor's was a smaller practice, you could phone in or call in on spec, 99% of the time you'd be seen or could make a decision that the waiting time was too long and try again. Either the world is now full of 'Google Hypochondriacts' or we are a lot more sick than we once were?

But better than nothing. I’ve started keeping a diary because my records for current treatment are currently in three places, GP, Nobles, Royal Liverpool. They don’t always communicate.

Sound thinking, I now ask for (and get ) copies of all my medical tests/reports for my own file after being advised to do so by a friend .
