Has anyone mentioned Suzi Qualtrough?

I believe that lovely Detroit/Castletown hybrid is mentioned in an earlier post, yes.

Jerry Christian was the warm up act for Peter Green at the Gaiety.

Jerry played very well, and got the applause he deserved.

Peter Green was a shadow of his former self. The band carried him for most of the night with Green showing just a few flourishes of his brilliant playing.

When I were a lad, Jerry was already a legend. In his later years when he'd mellowed, his solo stuff was excellent. He told me a story of how he'd walked for miles on an almost deserted Aussie beach idyll one day when in the distance he saw a beer shack and a few cars, a barbie heating up. As he got closer he could hear a guitar and vocalist and thought to himself, "hang on, I know that voice but it must be impossible." Sure enough, there in the bar singing and strumming away for a beer and a burger was none other than another Manx fella, Robbie Ashe. It all seemed so improbale to both if them give the isolated circumstances down under. Here's a pic of Jerry, c 1975/76. Sure he won't mind...

I seem to remember some/all of Nazareth living in Castletown, late 70s ?

Yep that’s right, they had a cottage in Queen Street, I remember being invited in one Christmas or New Year’s Eve after a few pints in the Glue Pot - great hosts.

Gavin Sutherland also lived in a house between Ballasalla and Silverdale in the mid 70’s.

Sometimes. Keeps himself to himself these days, does a bit of home-recording his own stuff. Sounds like a cross between Paul Rogers and Steve Winwood. Always wanted to record it properly with the full band, get people in and lay it down but he was reluctant to change the feel. Must go see him...

Rude Reggae Re-do's here with a great band that played at the first Mannifest down the Nunnery. They played the Sgt Peppers set that night, great performance and atmosphere
