TT2018 - entertainment, tents and that

Recommended Posts

Hooded Ram at Bottle Neck Car Park

Bushy's Village at the Villa

Day one of TT Festival, Practice week. Both places must have been surprised at the amount of people, although the Liverpool football match on the TV might have initially helped things along particularly at Hooded Ram. But something in the region of 99.93% of bike fans care not a jot about football so this might not be representative of how things will pan out.

Bushy's had a true festival atmosphere and it was brilliant. I doubt Bunch of Skankas at Bushy's have ever played to such a huge audience.

It looks like Hooded Ram have simply tried to replicate Bushy's formula and added a few touches, such as the tent is posher and bigger and they have an excellent big screen. But Bushy's have surpassed everything they ever did and their Village is in a different league altogether. They even have a sticky floor - but this is lots of little sticks to protect the grass, rather than spilled beer. I might go down the Bottle Neck sometime next week just for the nostalgia of the sticky floor.

If first day is anything to go by then it;s going to be an excellent TT2018.

Didn’t go to the Hooded Ram bar because the new Bushys was great :) Really really good - good on the government & Martin, Bushys always brought the festival to TT, this year they’ve excelled themselves.

Hooded Ram has a 'Bay Festival' look about it, bags offered, but very little delivered. It is all about, and has been all about Bushy's beer tent.

Competition improves the breed, Bushy's formula was getting a bit stale so maybe a shakeup is what was needed as far as the benefit to the customer is concerned?

But do you seriously think that a shakeup to benefit the customer was any of the drivers behind the change?

How do their prices compare?

2 pints bitter 1 pint of Guiness. Hooded Ram £12.00.

Same round in Bushy's Bushy's less than a tenner.

I can't be exact because the same round was a different price each time and we didn't compare until after.

All I can say is that I would have liked to have been at Hooded Ram when the goals were scored. Oh yes. I don't generally follow football, but I think I would have got into that game. At Bushy's it was more to do with getting into the atmosphere and the music.

Great to have the Brewery Bar at the Grandstand, the Quay, Hooded Ram & the fantastic Bushy’s all there to enjoy .......

Should be the best TT in years for the drinkers & revellers!

No, it never is unfortunately.

Anybody else find it strange that Reef and Ross Noble are performing in the “intimate” setting of the VIP tent rather than the Villa/Gaiety where Ross Noble in particular would guarantee a sell out?

After the civil service allocation there won’t have been many of the 500 tickets left for the general public.

A perfect example of the way that the T.T. festival has changed. Twenty years ago that would never have happened. That was when the festival was for everyone. Now that it's become 'professionalised' and commercialised it doesn't belong to the fans anymore. Like most sports that came from the people and used to belong to the people; it's becoming bloated, corporate, and just another part of the entertainment industry.

I would imagine it to be nigh impossible to park anywhere near the Villa, parking at the Villa has been stopped during TT due to Bushys activities.
