Bus Vannin ends return journey tickets

Recommended Posts

Well, this new bus timetable is certainly a total p-ss take. Anybody read it yet? If you're a regular bus user, expect to be very irritated by the time you finish reading it.

It must be difficult for visitors anyway. There are no buses between Peel and the South.

So the latest one (Monday to Thursday) you can get is the 22:40 which arrived at the bus station at 23:15.

The last South bus leaves the bus station at 23:10.

So you need to get off the bus at Quarterbridge and walk to Groves Road and get the South bus there OR swap on Peel Road at Brown Bobby or Opposite Pulrose Bridge but that cuts it very fine.

How’s a visitor to know that?

Yes. Apparently there's a Welcome Centre in the Sea Terminal yet even Manx people have to ask where it is.

Perhaps the people at Isle of Man Tourism could designate a person (maybe school leavers?) to hang around bus stops at Lord Street and the Promenade to give directions to tourists. I very often have them coming to me for directions which I don't mind but surely there's a more coordinated way they could assist more tourists to avoid confusion.

Aren’t we on about the 4th Bus app now? Do they not cater for that sort of thing?

Well ZipTrip doesn’t work.

traveline doesn’t suggests the route I described but does suggest that today you  can get the night bus from Douglas and The South at 12:15, which doesn’t run Thursdays.

But you're assuming we have bus apps to inform the public, when in fact we have have bus apps so the DoI can issue a press release with each new one saying how wonderful they are.The DoI isn't really interesting in running thing, they're interested in buying/building new toys.
