I enjoy how it was asked if local politicians would be protected from 'humiliation'.  Is it not arguable that sometimes local politicians are the reason for their own humiliation?

Tim Kenyon asked if the legislation - which came into force on New Year's Day - would protect local politicians”

Far more important than how it affects constituents.

I don't think there's any law could protect some politicians from humiliation.

If you put yourself forward for election at any level, a certain amount of mudslinging comes with the territory. It's all part of the democratic rough and tumble. Anything really nasty or threatening should be (and has been) taken to the police.

By putting yourself up and posting on social media surely means that anyone can say what they want 'freedom of speech', however, that said any hate speech should not be allowed, criticism yes but not hate but then again should a civilized society tolerate intolerance?
