I’m sure. With a nice compromise agreement and a stack of cash.

The latter I think.  From her Linkedin she appears to have gone to school in Salisbury (though it was a private school, so she could have lived a way away) and most of her subsequent work was in the South of England.  Never in the same post for long before she came here.

As to Wigan,  . . .

To people from down South etc, anything past the proverbial Watford Gap is all a mish-mash of 'up north', so Wigan...Isle of Man..Wigan, it's pretty much the same.

Never a good sign. Makes you suspect that people who do that have been found out...Mr. Charters.

Edited to add: Did we ever learn any more about the “New management team at the hospital” referred to on that bizarre IOM Newspapers news webpage that simply had the above quote as a headline and then nothing else at all other than photographs of a grey-haired white man and an attractive Asian lady? Who are they? Where have they come from? What do they do?

And that didn't last long. I think Charters was there 3 months approx.

We do seem to have a talent for picking the applicants who talk a good game.

Doing the rounds in USA now. Definitely a moving target. It's like a world tour.

To recap his achievements here lest anyone has forgotten:

Turnaround of the Islands health housing and social care services. Established a new vision and resulting strategy for health and social care that significantly improves the Islands health and wellbeing, delivers better value for money, reduces future demand, and establishes a new leadership team to deliver the resulting strategy.

For quite a while now I have been of the opinion that the main driver for picking those who talk the talk but can't walk the walk is simply one of empathy.

It is the Public Service after all....

The Isle of Man had a lot of money on offer. It's like shit. It attracts various insects. Some beneficial, some parasitic.

Experienced entomolygists know how to differentiate between the two.

IoM Govt lacks experienced entomolygists.

There are several issues here.

The first one is around honesty. Bizarre though it is, the IOM code for Civil Servants makes no reference to the word, unlike the UK ones.

Secondly, is the role modeling to more junior civil servants. If this matter goes unsanctioned, then it can only be interpreted as OK to do - to cut corners, and do a slack job. How does that translate to leadership in a failing organisation?

Thirdly, the IOM code does mention integrity. Someone demonstrating such would surely offer their resignation?
