Was that not China Town ?

It is now. It was Mandarin before it was China Town.

What was name of the Chinese Restaurant where l’Experience now is?

Going Waaay back, I'm talking 1953 ish, Main Road Onchan. Used to be taken there by my grandmother.

Peggy spit's place? My dad reminisces about that place, she used to spit in the fat to check it was hot enough.

No.  At least I don't think so.  It was a chippy on the main road a bit past the butchers in the direction of Laxey.

Nelly’s was a good chippy. I once saw a drunk stagger out of there, lose his balance and fall into the fairly narrow gap between the adjacent telephone box and the building alongside it. Completely stuck! Hilarious.

I can’t believe no one has mentioned the chippy that used to be in port st Mary up the side street. There used to be queues out the door and down the street. Can’t remember It’s name but it was the best fish and chip shop on the island. Probably in the world.

His dad had it before him when it was in the high street and have to agree that it certainly was the best chippy on the planet.  The wait in the queue that went down the street on a Friday and Saturday night was definitely worth it.

They knew their way around a russet

Only just seen this.

Agree totally -we were probably in those queues.

We lived in Ramsey but if the time was right and we were anywhere south of Laxey that is where we headed .

Puzzling though... just  2 ingredients-  plus a frying  medium of some sort

- such a wide  variation in the end product?
