I've explained this before Derek. From a friend working for a firm who is responsible for lots of services  , not Auldyn etc , while they had a concept plan from day one ie what the finished job would

It's not Harmer's direct fault. Nor any of those we elect. APART from not having the departmental and relevant experience and balls to stand up to and question the reams of bullshitters and chanc

But the problem isn't the horse trams.  It's the corporate culture of the Manx civil service.  Rather than accept the reality of what their main job is, which is maintain existing structures in the mo

I don't know why they opted for red concrete in the first place.

Cracks aside anyone who has driven through the McDonalds drive thru will be able to see just how bad this will look in a few years time.

Agreed. Anything with dye in it fades over time so when they get around to fix the cracks its going to look terrible . Certainly not a Prom to be proud off.

Before 2016, there was a couple of guy's over from the UK  think they worked for Hyder (favoured consultants) that were carrying out design work for the prom around 2014 and one chap was on it for 4 years and to be fair everytime he had drafted a plan it was threw back , a few more came over and soon realised they were wasting their time as the hierarchy changed their mind constantly, I suspect that is still happening with the 3 amigos NB/JR/IL. The full cost of the promenade will be well hidden and will be booked out to allsort's of project's.

Yeah, book it to Ramsey pier like they did for many years!

At what point can businesses sue IOMG over this fiasco?

Never? Government not a "sue-able" entity or something like that?

But consider: If they can pull the, "Nobody's fault, nobody accountable" verdict for a £350M Power Station debt, a mere £30M-odd Promenade fiasco can definitely be batted away without a blink?

Perhaps the only recourse open to those affected is to get on to their respective MHKs and say, "YOU are part of the administration which is responsible for this epic cluster-fuck. What are YOU doing about it and I want to know BEFORE YOU come asking for my vote in September? And if YOU haven't got an answer, don't come asking".

The way there treating businesses on the Prom is criminal and you should be able to sue them or similiar . I have a friend with two businesses and properties down there and access to one is zero and no rate rebate or the likes . The footfall  there if you can even get close to the other property is not much better than zero and thats before you take in the lack of visitors . I feel for Marco big time as not sure I could keep my shit together in this sort of situation . Morally Government is killing businesses by incompetence and like most things they just dont give a toss .

Does any business have a legal right to access by the public. ?  You may own the building, but you don’t own the access. The Gov. pay for the access to your property.

Some businesses the land in front of building is not owned by Gov. My friend is responsible for land in front of one of his .Also what you pay business rates for and the likes . Surely no point in doing that if you didnt have a accessible business .
