Once upon a time, big vans and Chelsea Tractors could fit in those spaces. Now, they stick out half way across the road!

Perhaps this is meant to be a deterrent for gas guzzlers?

Like I have said quite a few times on here, you do not have to fit in between the lines.

Perhaps they are narrow to put of large vans etc. But they are dotted so you can overlap them no problem.

Thank you so much for explaining so many times that we are allowed to park on the roadside even if we slightly overlap the lines. I think we were all living in fear  until you kindly explained that again.

Me repeatedly saying it does not seem to stop people moaning and moaning about it.

But thank you for reinforcing the message once again.

Maybe one day we'll have something more important to moan about.

Why would you feel the need to keep telling us we are allowed to park. We all know where we can park. No one was moaning.

Of course there are gripes about 4 years of work on the prom which has been in so many ways a disaster  that the taxpayer is picking up the bill for (a still unknown cost) But why do you think we need you to give us parking approval. It does sound condescending.

Its not meant to be condescending. Yes there is plenty of stuff to complain about on the prom. I am certainly not sticking up for it.

FTR I don't know kW why they even marked out the narrow parking bays with white lines. Waste of time and money.

But the fact remains, it's not an offence to park outside them AFAIK.

If only they had just moved them to the seaward side of the road, could have provided extra parking when out of use, which is most of the time.

The whole thing is frankly an embarrassment. It just gets worse and worse.

I drove the Promenade South to North this morning, it's very apparent up around the Palace area that the edge of the pink concrete is starting to fracture and crumble where it sits alongside the black/grey tarmac of the traffic lane (as you might expect from the edge of a brittle substance subjected to heavy traffic use). Once water gets into that and freezes, things are only going to go one way.

Signals at Castle Mona - lunacy indeed!!

Or perhaps they mean on the Promenade near to its junction with Castle Mona Avenue??

Bad reporting or bad press release or combination. Doesn't say much for 3 FM that they publish such rubbish!!

Well they credit what they have produced to 'MyProm' as does the similar Manx Radio story.  And coming from such a reliable source, why should they disbelieve it?

3FM calls it a horse tram. Manx Radio calls it a light railway tramway. Maybe that's because Douglas is now a city.

I think those are the points that were estimated to have a £1M cost.

I also assume that the crossing at the Terminus has grandfather rights.
