It is officially, Douglas Borough Council these days.

Though if it is a council it can not raise money through rates and rely's on money from government.

I think it all stems from Miss Catherine Rice refusing to be called the Town Clarke, and hence the title CEO. Have not heard of any expensive rebranding of vehicles a clothing and stationary  to proclaim our city status as of yet.

Plenty of time, plenty of fools. After all it's not there money.

£200,000 for a wall, they see they see them coming.          Ka,ching

Massive respect..not.. for the absolute tossers who had the opportunity to make the promenade safer and more accessible when they redesigned it . They managed to go massively over budget and way over time.   There is no excuse absolutely no excuse they had every chance to make it work and it seems worse than ever.

Jusrt driven past the tram sheds at the Strath, seem to be unloading all the bogeys from the trams off a big wagon. Have they all been away to be altered to run on the non heritage tram line by non heritage trams. No doubt gov shiel will be on stating just having the rust removed. Nothing to see about axles being altered.. Move along nothing to see.

Anyone else spotted the big retaining wall in lower Foxdale that has been completed from scratch, on a main road. In a few weeks with a solid concrete core faced with nice Manx stone?

They need that fella on the sunken gardens.  Instead they will spend a fortune on something that will collapse again in a few years.

So either/or :

1. The rails get rusty all the time and therefore this work needs to be carried out frequently

2. The rails were in a poor condition when purchased and it would have been cheaper and easier to descale them before installing them

3. ?

In my opinion the issue wasn't rust. Once again I think DOI are being economical with the truth. Rails if not used , MER, manage fine after a few trips. My gut feeling is the rails were sub standard and thats why they needed grinding. If that isnt the case are they going to gring them every March at 67k a time ?. Dont think so.

Grumbling on other SM sources about the face angles of the rails not being correct and needing to be ground to allow the wheels of the trams to sit on them correctly? Plus the DOI ignoring prior advice on the subject...
