That is so obviously what is required (and in Laxey too) but hiring a digger and wagon, doesn't keep dozens of designers, engineers, quantity surveyors and an entire management structure in jobs.

Are you guys joking? I genuinely cannot work out. Clearly the sea level would be the same.

It is a bloodbath, and the replies are pure bullshit.

Harmer was absolutely pathetic in Tynwald.

He'd been totally set-up by his officers, and was completely ill-prepared  for even the most obvious questions.

It'll be interesting to see if this comes back to Tynwald, or if it's a done deal.

The present beach provides a ramp for any decent wave to use to impact on the prom.
At least if they reduce the angle and remove said ramp, the waves would hit the sea wall and crash back to sea.

That may well be the case but instead of the waves breaking against the sea wall the 'ramp' assists the waves on their merry way across the prom!

Beaten to it!

Harmer  is one of about 15 people who should never, ever have entered politics. They are baulking all progress an£ should be f***ed off ASAP

At one time I think it was £98,000 per year, awarded to someone connected to DBC too.

Yes or no, the problem doesn't truly lie with Harmer or any of the other weak willed well meaners we put in there. He like the rest of them is a mushroom. Wheeled out now and again into the blinding light to deflect attention from where it should be directed.

The IoM CS needs a root and branch clearout. It has become a self-serving parasitic organism that is neither civil nor servants. That includes its tentacles that it spreads down into LAs with their own questionable motivations and performances.

If what has gone on on Douglas Promenade cannot be seen as proof then there is no future.

But the elected puppets can’t make decisions or policies. Only the intelligent Civil servants can do that for them and give them the script or even the teleprompter to read. That is the limit of those not exposed to live questioning like HQ and David Ashford.

Of course it would but it would reduce the amount of boulders fired across the prom at high tides

Yes but take in wind direction and swells from storms then you have falsely heightened levels . If the beach area at the walkway was reduced you'd solve lots of problems as swell would hit the current wall which is designed to send back the sea . Flat calm day at highest tide you never get the sea level anywhere near the sea wall .
