Promenade/Peel Road Megathread

I believe Mr Harmer was involved and was encouraged by what was proposed, unfortunatley his officers had their way. I know this because the UK consultant told me that he would get nowhere while the heads of this crew were in charge.

Question needing answered is why did Mr Harmer allow himself to be swayed by the turkeys who were facing an independently concluded Xmas?

What was the point of bringing in consultants if their recommendations were to be given back seat to the opinions of those whom they were brought in to consult about?

The contact should have been given to Dandara. Say what you like about them but they would have said ‘keep the DOI out of it and it’ll be done in 6 months’.

If the cracks in the external render on all of their estates is anything to go by they'd make a worse mess than the DOI!

I think it is called playing lip service, although it may have seemed like a good idea at the time, politicos change their minds quite regularly, especially if it means having to rock the boat.

Currently traversing the promenade on a bus, first time in a while, just wow.

Good isn't it! Taken years of hard work to achieve!

How many were on the bus with you? I walked the prom today saw about 10 buses come past. The most I ever saw on one was 5 people. Most had less than that. I wonder how many people have taken up the wonderful offer of free bus tickets so they can sit in an empty bus in the midst of this complete clusterfuck holding up traffic?

There were 14 south to Douglas, less going up to Onchan. I was hugely impressed with the prom, truly amazing stuff.

Bus Vannin are missing a big promenade tourist opportunity with no visitors.

So much chaos with apparently so little DOI effort. Quite impressive.

I still can't get over quite how nuts it is. I'm tempted to go back to Douglas for another look.
