Leisure Tax

Recommended Posts

Chris Thomas is quietly trying to implement this new tax, on top of income tax and rates, so that the whole Island pays towards leisure facilities such as the NSC, Gaiety theatre, Villa Complex, parks , library's etc..   This is disgusting it means that Annie living in Maughold or Bride, anywhere out of town, who does not get out much and never uses these facilities has to pay this tax regardless.   It is an additional tax, rates will not be reduced nor will income tax.   What this man is thinking of God only knows and even he is probably puzzled.   This man comes up with the most crackpot schemes and does nothing to tackle  t  he real problems that exist. His Year of the Island was a flop, yet he claims it was a roaring success. Fantasy land...if anyone can tell me one single idea he has had to improve Island life please write it on the back of a postage stamp and send it to me.

Hmmm. A regular squawk from the LAs and their ratepayers is that the services provided and paid for out of those rates are also used by the out-of-towners who are effectively paying nothing towards them.

Maybe this could be used to balance out such anomalies in conjunction with the Rates Review (like that's likely to see light of day before Nelson gets his eye back..)

It will cover every Government owned facility, perhaps Castle Rushen, Wild life park etc just because you do not use them will not excerpt you, believe me it will be a lot more than 75p.   Remember how the toilet tax started.....

Unless you're dressed as a handmaiden or skiving school they won't care.

If I did a horse tram protest I’d be dressed as a sad middle aged bald man, wearing an anorak, wanking into a sock, eating a packed lunch of boiled eggs and crisps my mum had packed, looking at other people’s kids.

How about a Freemason tax? - i.e. anyone in a conflict of interest i.e. - government, police, judiciary etc. has to pay massive arrears or have their buildings, cars, houses  etc. confiscated and used to fund the building of some actual leisure facilities.
