The DHSC needs a rock star CEO. Someone with the medical credibility, intelligence, capacity and charisma to take the staff with them.

Agree. There must be somebody out there with experience who has had success elsewhere.

I thought he was parachuted in as some sort of elite level number cruncher.

Yes So did I. He was supposed to sort out the overspend at the hospital.

Bloody hell she looks worn out already and hasn’t even started the role.

They should send 50% of middle management and senior management on a cruise for a month and take note how no one missed them and things got done faster, then cut the cloth.

It’s  a joke how the have a senior manager to manage a senior manager to manage a middle manager who manages a junior who manages front line services.

A junior manager costs tax payer 48k a year.  Jobs creating jobs to sustain their own jobs.  Madness. Imagine how much all the middle and senior managers are costing us.

I doubt Couch will be leaving without a few quid in his pocket. That payment will amount to somewhere up  to 12months salary being the maximum under the MARS scheme

You really believe that when we’ve paid £100,000 or more to 20 people to leave their jobs in the last five years according to Chris Thomas

That's over £2,000,000 to just push dispensable people out of jobs.

Ah, but the ones who are left are utterly indispensable. And should be given a huge pay rise accordingly.

So they tell us.

I have no idea what grade Dr Couch was, but if you look at the corporate leadership group salaries, pay outs would top £100k for less than a year's salary

I would agree but the report says the benchmark was those who got £100k or more. In reality some could have easily got £200k or £300k payouts - well over £100k. I would bet the basic payout under a compromise agreement was 12 months salary. So if they were on over £100k they’d have got more than £100k.

Lots of very good people were in this group.

Decades of experience lost to political bollocks.

It will never happen, but it ever a list was produced to show who was binned or squeezed out to fit the goal of idiots, it would open the eyes of thousands. Decades upon decades of experience lost at a cost to the public and not just in monetary terms.

It’s one month pay per year for redundancy, what I would like to know is

if so many redundancies are handed out how come there is so many new roles?
