Weekend of Violence

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Has violence increased? I don’t know but the lack of transparency on this topic only leads some to question things. The ‘Move along there now. Nothing to see here ‘ responses  really serve only to result in questioning further.

Hi

no it hasn’t. Certainly a lot lower than it was 20 years ago.

We just hear hear about it because the cops are more proactive on the requests for info front.

Thank you for that reassurance,  Derek. Could you also state whether the use of weapons has not increased?

There were at least 5 officers with guns at the Woodville Terrace incident. And one arrest for a toiy gun in Peel.

I make that 5-1 to the police.

Those damn weed smokers going out on a weekend and battering ten bells of shite out of one another and costing us money and resources. The stuff should be banned!

Correct about it being a lot lower these days

I remember counting over 20. fights in one night that were not broke up by police

That would be about late 90s when there were lots of workers over here and night life was very busy

It will unless it gets hijacked.

Violence is lower all over the civilised world, but media promotion of it is at an all time high so people are wrongly convinced the world is getting more violent. People are familiar with Operation Mockingbird and the fact that media all over the world is by and large set-up and run by the intelligence services of each country? Although a lot of this kind of thing is just sensationalism to attract clicks or people to buy papers.

A lot of the violence of 20-30 or even 40 years ago never even made it into the press and avoided police involvement. We had a different attitude to violence then, it was almost expected.

Yes. Very true. It occurred to me that if the mods close every thread that gets "moroned",  "they" will see it as a challenge and eventually there will be no threads.

The article consists of one fight in Strand Street.

That is not a weekend of violence.

On the other hand, a lot of actual criminal actions here aren't covered in the press either. For example, why do they never cover the fact that some scumbag keeps going around Onchan scratching cars?

That is not a weekend of violence.

It refers to three different incidents. And a group mentioned again. Where does the info come from? Assume it is the police and that it is valid information. After all, they appeal for witnesses.
