I've often respected your views,  not these ones

I have nothing against oor Steve personally, and find him a rather jovial bimbling sort of chap that blows a tune on the bagpipes. And wears the fancy gowns and sits upon meetings for a fair wedge of wonga.

But seriously...what the fuckety, fuck fuck has this guy EVER done that deserves a goddamn fucking gong.

Fucking seriously folks.

What a pile of unexpurgated fucking shite.

The Queens awards system summed up in a wonner. Especially when you put these extreme gravy trainers against people who have actually done something for society.

Services to our constitution. Which in the world that these people reside in is more important than the reality that that constitution governs and presides over.

We see it all the time in Tynwald if not elsewhere. The pomp and pageantry has become more important than the raison d'etré. But they're so wrapped up in it that they can't see it. So awards for its perpetuation and continuity are self-important to the system. But leave the outside world cringing.

Most Manx are British...The MHKs have to take the oath of allegiance to the Queen or they cannot sit in the Keys etc...Mr Rodan is not Manx but a Scot and his country remains in the UK. Maybe you should ask why an immigrant presides in Tynwald...How many Tynwald members are not actually Manxmen? Puts the honours in perspective perhaps..

Not really.

if we boast, and we do about our Independence , then we should devise are own systems of award to those on the Island that do public service.

No disrespect intended to any of the recipients or to the Queen, but the Queen's honours don't mean very much anymore. There were many soldiers who fought at Dunkirk along with many support personnel and they never received a medal for it because it wasn't strictly-speaking a "victory", even though it was a strategic, military, and operational success against overwhelming odds. They did a lot more than some of the "honoured" celebrities like David Beckham.

Proposed that 16 year old's get the vote and more importantly kept Eddie Teare from being the President of Tynwald in 2016.

Definition of a Scottish gentleman : someone who can play the bagpipes, but who doesn't.

It never used to have one and we managed.

Not quite sure how far back you want to go back... There have been Speakers since 1758. Prior to the creation of the President of Tynwald position in 1990 the Governor was the presiding officer in Tynwald and prior to 1980 the Governor sat as presiding officer sat in Legislative Council. What they should have done is have the Speaker elected by Tynwald then have him or her preside over all three chambers (if they insist on having three) with Legislative Council sitting on a different day to Keys. That would also help speed through legislation if they really needed to.

We managed fine without a Governor or Legislative Council for centuries too.
