Non-Believer 12,354
So....with a large fanfare quote from Phil Gawne extolling efficiencies and savings (could you make it up?), there is a proposal to merge Arbory and Rushen Commissioners (iomtoday). Maybe we're finally going to start slimming down and realise that an Island 15miles x 30miles doesn't need 22+ independent states? 2

Efficiencies and savings didn't seem high on his agenda when he sorted the farmers out ! Kerrching !! 1
Rog 1,658
ANYTHING that Gawne has ANYTHING to do with will prove to be a disaster. That creature has just too much track record to expect otherwise. 1
Neil Down 7,939
Everything south of Douglas - 1 office Douglas and everything north of Douglas - 1 office Just two sets of commissioners required (or not as the case may be)

I am sure that Phil Gawne will ensure all roads down south leading from the Sloc will be extravagantly resurfaced

Not sure whether Arbory should be included, it could perhaps join Malew and Castletown. Rushen take the piss they claim that they have lower rates than Port Erin because they're more efficient. But that's because Rushen residents use the facilities in Port Erin.

What 'facilities' would they be? And don't say Library. Hardly anyone uses libraries any more

So the cleaning of the town centre, maintenance of carparks, plus cleaning up after their dogs when they walk them in Bradda or along the Prom. Rushen is Port Erin and PSM plus assorted hamlets for Tynwald, Church purposes until PSM school opened they went to the same primary school, the football team is Rushen United. It's one community but the Rushen Commissioners want to be subsidised by the rest of the community.

Merge them all!
