Manx Telecom - absolute crap

Recommended Posts

You make a good point trmpton.

We also need to keep electricity prices sky high to pay for the huge debt.

There comes a stage when enough is enough.

Make the Power Station into a world class Opera House and import leccy via that there cable, and light up the fibre optic for UK style broadband..

A typical short sighted attitude.

if everyone does that, MT and Sure won’t have the incentive (or funds) to maintain the infrastructures that your EE SIM will be roaming into.

A few years down the line people will be complaining that the coverage is patchy and speed is poor because sure as eggs are eggs EE won’t be installing all the equipment required to run their own network here.

What a great Manx establishment answer. You have to use sub standard services otherwise the service might get even more substandard if enough mugs don’t sign up to it. It’s hardly the way to grow the economy it’s more just joining a protection racket.

Bollocks

Its the reality of living on a small rock with a limited market.  Neither MT or sure are, or ever will make huge fortunes from the Manx population.

why do you think they are both looking at ways of making more money off island?

Both, especially MT, make plenty of profit from the Manx population. The off island thing is driven by greed not necessity.

But first MT have to accept that customers  can choose, sometimes, not to accept poor service and high prices. The problem we have with some Island businesses is that they forget we are customers rather than cash cows ready for milking. This is the real short-sighted attitude.

In which case, why aren’t the UK telcos all wanting to setup here?

If there is so much money to be made, sore all Sky, EE etc need to do is come over and start charging the same prices they do in the UK and the entire population would switch immediately putting MT and Sure our of business.

The fact that they aren’t, would suggest that they as industry experts have a very different view on it to you.

As the internet has become utility, should it now be nationalised?

they'd just buy bankrupt MT's masts.  even if they had to install their own you bet it won't be half the cost MT charged us for the privilege.

Yeah, I guess it's nothing to do with them not having a license to do so and them not having a snow ball's chance in hell of ever getting one.

MT and Sure make plenty of money from the IOM, much of it from government,  and provide very little in the way of quality service in return.

Yes they do provide quality. Maybe you are involved in this to some disadvantage. I reckon most home users are happy with the services provided. Apart from Blue wave who still give shit service
