At the Nou Camp in Barcelona there is a massive sign that says 'Més que un Club' - roughly translated that means More than a Club. It's their club motto.

Maybe Laurence's new Grandstand could have a motto plastered on the side. Maybe 'But what about Mount Everest?' or 'Thoughts and prayers'

'Thoughts and prayers'

'Oh, God... I humbly entreat you for the soul of this, thy servant, [insert name] who will today depart from this world.'

TT weddings may be a thing for a very few people, but take the enthusiasts out of the equation and what is to attract couples to Glencrutchery road ?

Perhaps stunning background views of the Police custody suite or maybe the cemetery or traffic lights and a filling station, yes all bound to attract upmarket wedding couples to the venue !

What an absolute load of tripe, if it needs a bit of TLC then do that, but FFS this is profligate lunacy !

Is there not some legislation to protect the taxpayers from misuse of public funds ?

There is no legislation but there is TYNPOTWALD!

32 of the Islands greatest and the good who come together every month, led by a man who loves to dress up. They are supposed to debate legislation and approve or reject Government requests for money.

i can see this lot approving Skellys request for Squillions with zero debate or scutiny. They will be brainwashed by COMIN that this scheme is in the national interest.

I thought last time we had elected a few who were not content to sit on the parcel shelf nodding away contentedly! However I was wrong we have a shower of compliant muppets who drool at the sight of a few pieces of broken mirror and some beads! I have nothing against the TT or the Festival or cycle racing or rallying, each to their own, but a niche sport with a peak attendance of four weeks per year is no economic driver to spend long millions.

Will justification go along the lines of the Liverpool landing stage " no cost to the manx taxpayer" which after Government negotiation becomes north of 38 million !

Can't we prorogue this lot until the next election then see if someone stands who can at least pee unaided !!

I think many people would support proroguing the current bunch of jokers while a full, independent review is carried out. There's something seriously wrong with the Government at the moment

Housing construction and the TT races appear to be the two main thrusts of the Quayle Administration economic plan

I'd like to give the Quayle Administration two main thrusts.

With a pitchfork.

I have some questions which I would appreciate if anyone can seriously answer

1. Why has the current Grandstand certainly within the last 10 years and after the release of Closer to the Edge, hasn’t both Department of Economic Development or Starship Enterprise embarked on a naming rights exercise for the Grandstand? Why hasn’t it got a current named sponsor which is relatable to Motorsports - and I don’t mean IOMG mates and cronies either!

2. Does the current Grandstand and surrounding area, such as Paddock, create any revenue outside the TT and Festival of Motorcycling? I say this as we don’t receive any monies for any TV exposure or documentary, and in some cases, the Grandstand if often gaining exposure.

3. Do we know what the going rates are for using the Grandstand, outside the peak Motorsports events? We know through general here say what ice cream vans and burger vans pay for TT/FOM. I’m sure these factors will be factored into a business case/plan

4. Do any other areas outside on the TT course produce a reliable income stream - aside from the Seating areas outside of the Creg ny Baa and other areas.

It would be quite interesting to see solid and reliable figures. It’s no good bleating commercial confidentiality either!

Or their other favourite "it brings people to the island/general economic benefit".

The same questions should be asked of the horse tram lobby.

That's going back a few years. She's back home in Germany running a specialised fire-extinguisher company.
