Annual hot air ceremony to start

Recommended Posts

You judge a man (or woman) by the company he/she keeps...and anyone who associates with the nexus of ignorance and rubbish represented by Mec Vannin needs to have their head introduced to a high-velocity cricket bat.

It was a good turn out despite the poor weather:

The usual collection of idiots who want to return to the 'spuds and herrin' days of yore in their Isle of Man sweatshirts and unkempt grey hair blowing in the wind..

I agree. The annual ceremony for shit stirring beardy weirdies who are hanging on for grim life to how shit things used to be in the IOM. It’s a shame Mec Vannin attach their name to it otherwise it would probably be better attended if you didn’t have to listen to complete knob cheeses like Worzel Gummidge Kermode or Bernie Moffatt taking bollocks.

No it's always on the 2nd because that's the anniversary of Illiam Dhone's execution.

Shows how much notice I take of Mec Vannin.

It's the irritating way that the Manx media report events like this.  They always promote them the day before (which is why you associate it with the First) which is too late to organise to attend for many people (even assuming you see the info in time).  Then they very rarely  report what happened at the event, so we're none the wiser.  Admittedly they usually report the ID ones because the speakers usually give  them notes and sod all else happens on 2 January

That's a bit unfair, they often have interesting speakers who have nothing to do with the organisation.  Though I must admit that every time it rolls around I think "What! Are Mec Vannin still going?".   Though an open air meeting with speeches in early January may not be the best way to attract new recruits.

That's what you need. A Yorkshire born reject bimbo getting in on an out dated local act, that'll get them flocking in.

When someone burns down a house, do they have to pay for it once they are caught?

No in fact maybe you’ll then get elected and get a free pension for the rest of your life!
