Just spotted this online petition -

Due to the covid -19 outbreak the Isle of Man TT should be banned for the 2020 season due to a danger to life risk“

By Christ, if they started banning the TT for “danger to  life risk” they’d never run it.

I assume it was meant as a deliberate joke.

You’ve hit the nail on the head, Manxy. Something isn’t right. Unfortunately it’s you.

So if it was cancelled would the largesse shown to farmers be extended to all those businesses who'd be out of pocket? Were they when it was cancelled last time?

kids today.......   And that was Pandemic Preparations from Excess Death Contingency Planning, two more to come in session from them later in the show. Now, always different, always the same

What's the point of banning the tt its 3 months away in that time how many people will be travelling to and from the island prior to then?

There all sorts of logistics involved in preparing for the TT many suppliers and the organisers etc. will need to know the situation well before the event.

I get that but the petition set up is down to the fact a load of people will be coming here for the tt but loads of people come here before the tt so if the only reason they want to ban it is to stop the spread of coronavirus then they would be 3 months to late

And yet many people don't seem that bothered about having a chance of avoiding flu by getting a jab.  Coronavirus on the other hand is causing people to lose their minds.

OK, thousands of visitors from all over the UK and Europe and even worldwide for the TT, one person with Corona virus has a night out in the beer tent and infects several more people, in a few more days hundreds or even thousands become infected and it becomes necessary to quarantine them, maybe even close the island with a large number in tents or home stay, how can they be cared for and at who's expense?

Simple - stop selling that shit Mexican beer and it’s all over.

And despite a vaccine being readily and cheaply available a vast majority of people don't even bother being immunised.

As for stopping the TT, you only have to look as far back as 2001 to see how effective that was - loads of people came anyway.

The chances are the virus will have peaked long before then anyway, or at least mutated into something less likely to kill you, not that it is particularly likely to kill you now, even if you are unfortunate enough to catch it.
