Golfer
It's the well off older population who have a nice income, house etc who want lockdown to continue as they are at higher risk , whilst the younger population who need the income for rents, mortgage etc who want this to end soon. proplem is Island needs the younger population to get back to work to keep funding health, pensions etc and the older buggers who contribute little can stay inside for as long as they want if they're scared of virus! Provided the border stays shut we should all be able to get a bit more back to normal sooner or later. 2

What sort of normal is it with borders shut, a lot of businesses rely on tourists, business travelers and residents traveling e.g. Hospitality, taxi trade, airport security etc. so normal as long as you don't think about visits to family off island or work in any sector impacted!! Some things will probably be better. And very few people really need to go to London for a meeting anyhow. Let's be honest, most business travel was unnecessary. slinkydevil
Someone posted up on facebook they are off to Dubai, first class for a birthday holiday. Said it was worth the 2 weeks quarantine on return. If you can afford it why the hell not? Don't think I'd risk it right now though personally.

Probably a wind up as Dubai is closed to tourists like most countries and hoping to reopen by July so they are going nowhere near Dubai!! Dubai - a cross between a motorway interchange and a shopping mall. Wouldn’t go if you paid me. 2

It’s been ‘all right’ for many, not just the elete. A lot of positives have come out this for many people, even for the ones who’ve lost a lot. A lot are reconsidering their whole futures and reassessing what is important and what they’ve been forced into. But none of them are lucky enough to work for Govt? And those that do, aren't doing much re-assessing at all...
